Sr. Business Operations Manager [China]


 

We are looking for a senior result driven technical Business Operations/Agile Delivery Manager to be based out of our Shenzhen office providing a rare opportunity to partner with cross-functional teams, supporting them to accelerate value delivery to our travellers. This is a hands on role collaborating across Shenzhen and Europe, with the opportunity to drive key programmes of work and accelerate product delivery teams (engineering, product, marketing, design, data science...).

We are looking for someone who is pragmatic, proficient at applying delivery accelerating principles and practices based on Agile and Lean, with a strong delivery focus and the ability to communicate in both Mandarin and English. What you will be doing:

  • Driving sustainable improvements to team delivery and operational effectiveness across our Product Engineering team(s) in Shenzhen.

  • Raising the bar on understanding and application of key delivery and improvements practices through training and mentoring.

  • Building trust and understanding with our cross-discipline team to support change and growth.

  • Leading projects, programmes of work and/or change initiatives both alone and as part of a team, to drive significant step change in operational efficiency.

  • You will collaborate, prioritise and coordinate in the delivery of key delivery initiatives that may span Shenzhen and Europe.

  • Delivering results in a fast-paced environment with measurable impact across the business.


Key Methods we expect you may employ:

  • Strong analytical skills – analysing data, deriving key results, diagnosing business issues, partner and leading in driving successful sustainable outcomes.

  • Ability to connect and communicate effectively with teams in Shenzhen (Mandarin) and Europe (English speaking) delivering a combined business outcome.

  • Embracing and developing our culture of continuous improvement. Driving awareness of team health with qualitative and quantitative sources. Providing your insight and analysis of these inputs to drive discussion.

  • Applying a lean and agile approach ensuring that we test, learn, and embrace failure while scaling success.

  • Championing the adoption of approaches used by industry leaders. Applying your practical experience of delivery across multiple teams to drive improvements at the root cause for company-wide impact.

  • Developing strong working relationships at all levels within the company, creating a network you can lean on to drive change.

  • Building successful teams by leading and supporting them in laying strong foundations.

  • Leading the successful adoption of operational strategies, aligning product, engineering and other disciplines towards a shared vision and outcome.


Qualifications:

  • Track record of instilling/enhancing operational effectiveness and delivering scalable solutions across multiple software product development teams in a fast-moving, high growth tech company, or equivalent

  • Experience in software delivery over several teams and products, with a broad knowledge of product, design and engineering practices.

  • Fluent and confident communicating in both English and Mandarin is essential (written & verbal)

  • Successful track record in designing and delivering key business and technical programmes of work across multiple areas of the business.

  • Experience designing, delivering and embedding change initiatives across the business

  • Experience and a track-record in applying a range of Lean, Theory of Constraints and Agile practices in varying situations, mentoring and developing colleagues' ability to address complex operational issues.

  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to drive teams in continuous improvement

  • Tech background, strong analytical skills, comfortable using data to frame and shape solutions.

  • An effective communicator, building appropriate collaboration channels with the rest of the business with the gravitas to bring senior key leadership figures on-board and aligned to the plan.

  • Able to role model, embracing and learning from failure while scaling success.

  • Experience in delivering tailored training and leading without authority

Preferred:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Computer Science, Sciences, Engineering, Business or Psychology

  • Experience applying one of more of the following, Goldratt's Theory of Constraints, Lean and/or Six Sigma

  • Programme Management, Change management and/or Business Operations manager.

  • Experience as a tech expert in a high growth technology company.

  • Good skills and knowledge of psychological safety, servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
