Wallace’s SuperValu is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Fruit and Veg Manager. This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will work five days per week, Monday to Saturday on a roster basis.
Job description: Main purpose of the role: To ensure the Fruit and Veg Department operates efficiently and effectively at all times and provides our customers with excellent quality products and customer service.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Minimum 1 years` experience as a Sales Assistant with experience in Fresh Food Departments and ordering.
- Adhere to biweekly stocktaking procedures.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Have a true passion for the food industry and as such be creative and innovative with the fresh offering.
- The ability to inspire, lead and motivate employees.
- The ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and multitask under pressure.
- Interest in horticulture.
Main duties:

- Provide exceptional customer service, offering expert advice and guidance to customers.
- Management and training of staff in the department.
- Ensure purchasing of stock is carried out in accordance with procedures and control of stock rotation, so that the quality and freshness of the goods is of the highest order.
- Minimise waste and shrink in the department.
- Merchandise and present the department to the highest standard at all times.
- Bring new ideas to the department through regular research and benchmarking against competitors.
- Deal with all customer queries and efficiently, professionally and consistent with store policy.
